Business Efficiency Improvements

Many successful businesses find that their processes and structures are no longer suited to their current size. Systems that worked well when the business was small are not suited for communication and collaboration in a larger organisation. Poor systems can create inefficiencies, risks, and tensions between departments and between people.

But many successful businesses have developed a unique business model. The business needs processes and structures that help it to continue to deliver on its mission. It’s not clear that off-the-shelf solutions will be helpful.  It is critical to form sound foundations before adding operating platforms and software options.

I have conducted several in-depth business efficiency audits for businesses who find themselves in this situation. This involves taking stock of all current processes within the business, and all communication processes. Including an in-depth look at workflow and organisational structure. Importantly, extensive time talking to staff in each part of the business, to understand where the current structures are impeding their work, or creating risks, errors and misunderstandings.

The outcomes of such an audit include some re-organisation of roles and reporting structures; new processes (and sometimes new software) for certain tasks; new communication channels between parts of the business. It may also involve additional training or mentoring for some members of staff.

Staff report greater job satisfaction and effectiveness and a much smoother workflow. References from the relevant CEOs available upon request.
